TEAMS Conference & Expo

TEAMS is a Schneider Publishing produced annual trade show. It is the world’s leading conference and events expo for the sports events industry. I have served SP at over one dozen national events.

Here is the finished piece from 2014 in Las Vegas edited by the intrepid Billie Weiss, one of the best T&T contributors.

Javier Mosquera, a full time SP employee and sometimes T&T contributor completed these additional two pieces from Vegas in 2015 and Atlantic City in 2016 of our footage.

“Drew has served as a key video producer for us since 2014. He continually proves himself to be of value to our organization by quickly executing compelling short-form content for the web and other digital platforms.
Drew is adept with cutting-edge video technology—including the use of drones and aerial cinematography—to provide perspectives of events that no one has experienced before. With minimal oversight and supervision, Drew has delivered exciting and dynamic edits that absolutely represent our organizational voice. He is highly professional and easy to work with. I recommend him most highly.”

Camp Greystone

Camp Greystone is a Christian summer camp for girls located in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I was commissioned to create a high energy, fun-filled video that captured the essence of camp life in as lively a manner possible. I was present on location for six days. In that time I had the opportunity to capture high ropes, the zipline, sailing, fishing, the blob, field games, the pool and special activities like the carnival. What a blast these kids have at summer camp! The campus puts my days at Boy Scout camp to shame.

Raquette Lake Camps

Raquette Lake Camps consists of two summer camps located in the center of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. Campers can canoe for a radius of 100 miles in all directions. The untouched natural wilderness is unparalleled. It is one of the most well regarded and exclusive summer camps in the world.

Raquette Lake tasked me with making exciting highlight videos to entice new campers and rev up returning campers for the coming season. I covered just about every activity on sunny days. Additionally they had me make tour videos. Previously they had had a photo based campus tour that was a cumbersome website widget. The tours are narrated by real campers of different ages. These pieces took roughly eighteen days to shoot. Quite a long time, but there is much going on and so many special once-per-summer events to see and do.

The below videos represent three weeks spent at Raquette in 2015 and a recent follow-up week to showcase new facilities added in 2017.

The Super Pump

Hayward makes the world’s top selling pool pump. It is dependable and affordable. On behalf of Astronaut, a branding agency based in Winston-Salem, NC, we were tasked with production of a video that showcased the manufacture and assembly of the pump. The video also needed to show the lifestyle provided by the pump all in the same high-energy piece. The primary purpose and intended audience of the piece was sales representatives at a worldwide Hayward corporate meeting. These would be people that needed to be pumped up about the pumps they were selling! They may not have had any previous grasp on where the product came from or where they were assembled. The piece hopefully tied different branches of the company together a little tighter. Working with Astronaut was a pleasure. Stephen Lockwood, the creative director and founder served as the producer on this project. We concepted the piece with the client, coordinated logistics and saw that the piece stayed on-brand.

This was a fun piece to shoot. It took two days and had me attaching GoPros to gigantic robots, flying a drone inside a warehouse, riding a palette of pool pumps down a quarter mile conveyor belt and riding a hoverboard paired with a MOVI M5 for smooth factory floor moving shots.

Micro-Preemies

Pierce’s Project is an organization that approached us in 2015 to make their annual charity festival fundraiser videos. The organization was founded in order to help support families of premature or chronically ill infants before, during and after their NICU stay. Each year around 300 babies are born in the Charlotte, NC area before age 27wks. Between 21 and 27wks the babies are very fragile and vulnerable. The hospitalization can take months. The video below features the board members reading from a script addressed to new NICU parents. My goal with the piece was show the reality of the situation but end on a note of hopefulness. Their fundraisers for 2015 and 2016 have been successes.

BT Sport Industry Award Winning Submission

The AELTC was delighted to take home the trophy at the prestigious BT Sport Industry Awards 2016, winning the Best Use of Social Media awards in a hotly-contested category. Wimbledon surpassed Adidas, Dove, Samsung, Southampton FC, Wembley Stadium and the Football League, in their third year of nomination for social media.

I worked with the Head of Communications, Alex Willis to develop the script, content and look of this multimedia presentation. The editing took roughly a week to composite the motion graphics and sync everything to the voiceover.

Teacher Profiles

This was a series completed for UNC Charlotte for the agency, Little Red Bird. It showcased teachers in their first year with elementary, middle school and high school aged classrooms. It was a challenging exercise in shooting broll that shows a busy school system but no faces. This technique of creatively hiding the identity of subjects comes into play often when it is impossible to get signed releases by the parents and guardians of minors. We produced six pieces in the series. Here are the tightest three:
